Edmonton's beloved ice carving event, Chiseled, is set to captivate audiences once again from January 15 to 17, 2026, at the ICE District Plaza.

Formerly known as Ice on Whyte, this international competition has found a new home in the vibrant downtown core, offering both residents and visitors an unparalleled winter experience.

Over the course of three days, five two-person teams will transform 15 massive blocks of ice into intricate sculptures, showcasing their exceptional talent and creativity.

Each team is allotted 34 hours to complete their masterpiece, providing spectators with a unique opportunity to witness the evolution of these frozen artworks in real-time.

According to event organizers, the sculptures will remain on display until January 27, weather permitting, allowing ample time for the public to admire the finished pieces.

Attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite creation in the People's Choice Award, further engaging the community in this artistic celebration.

The ICE District Plaza, located at 10360 102 St NW, serves as the perfect backdrop for this event.

Surrounded by the city's bustling downtown, the plaza offers easy access to a variety of amenities, including dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Visitors can enhance their experience by exploring the surrounding area, which has seen significant development in recent years.

Notably, the Stantec Tower, a 66-story mixed-use skyscraper, stands as a testament to Edmonton's growth and modernization.

Additionally, the upcoming Event Park and the Village at ICE District are set to further transform the downtown landscape, offering new public spaces and residential opportunities.

For those planning to attend Chiseled, it's advisable to dress warmly and consider bringing skates to enjoy the nearby outdoor rink.

Parking is available in the area, with the ICE District Central Parkade offering convenient access to the plaza.

As Edmonton continues to embrace its winter heritage, events like Chiseled highlight the city's commitment to fostering community engagement and celebrating artistic expression.

Don't miss this opportunity to witness the magic of ice carving in the heart of downtown.
