Edmonton Gears Up for Spectacular New Year's Eve Celebrations

Downtown Festivities to Feature Fireworks, Live Entertainment, and Zero-Proof Options

As Edmonton prepares to bid farewell to 2025, the city is set to host a series of vibrant New Year's Eve events centered around Sir Winston Churchill Square and the Rice Howard Way Entertainment District.

Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. on December 31, offering a plethora of activities suitable for all ages.

At Churchill Square, attendees can enjoy live music, cultural performances, and ice skating.

Two fireworks displays are scheduled: an early show at 8 p.m. for families and a traditional midnight display to ring in 2026.

These fireworks will illuminate the sky over the Stanley A. Milner Library, providing a stunning backdrop for the celebrations.

Adjacent to the square, the Rice Howard Way Entertainment District will be bustling with energy.

From 6 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., the area will feature live performances from artists such as Funk the Matriarchy, Bitters, and DJ Suzanne Summers.

Roving performers, including LED hula-hoopers and winter fairies, will add to the festive atmosphere.

Attendees can also participate in a special New Year's Eve postcard craft designed by local visual artist Jade Rickey.

In line with the growing trend towards mindful consumption, many venues will offer "Zero Proof" (mocktail) options.

Spilt Mocktail Bar, Edmonton's first dedicated mocktail establishment, has been at the forefront of this movement.

Located at 11909 Jasper Avenue, Spilt has hosted a series of popular events throughout December, including holiday mocktail classes and non-alcoholic Irish cream workshops.

These events have highlighted the city's increasing interest in sophisticated, alcohol-free beverages.

For those planning to attend the downtown festivities, it's advisable to dress warmly and arrive early to secure a good viewing spot for the fireworks.

Public transit will be available, and attendees are encouraged to check the latest schedules and any potential road closures in the area.

As Edmonton embraces 2026, these New Year's Eve events promise a memorable night filled with entertainment, community spirit, and inclusive options for all.
