Chiseled Ice Carving Competition Returns to Edmonton's ICE District Plaza

International Artists to Transform Ice Blocks into Stunning Sculptures January 15–17, 2026

Edmonton's ICE District Plaza is set to host the much-anticipated Chiseled Ice Carving Competition from January 15 to 17, 2026.

This annual event brings together talented ice carvers from around the world to showcase their artistry and skill.

Over the course of three days, five two-person teams will have 34 hours to transform 15 massive blocks of ice into intricate sculptures.

Each block measures approximately 1 meter by 50 centimeters by 25 centimeters and weighs 135 kilograms.

The competition is free to attend, offering visitors a unique opportunity to witness the creative process firsthand.

Finished sculptures will remain on display until January 27, weather permitting, providing ample time for the public to admire these frozen masterpieces.

Attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite sculpture in the People’s Choice Award, adding an interactive element to the experience.

In addition to the competition, the ICE District Plaza will feature various winter-themed activities and entertainment, making it a family-friendly destination during the event.

For those planning to visit, the ICE District Plaza is located at 10360 102 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 1B9.

Access is convenient via public transportation, and ample parking is available in the area.

As the event approaches, visitors can look forward to updates on participating artists and additional programming.

For more information, stay tuned to local event listings and the ICE District's official channels.

Don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic of ice carving and celebrate the winter season in the heart of Edmonton.
