Kingsway Mall has a new owner — and potentially a new chapter ahead for one of Edmonton's most enduring retail landmarks.
Montreal-based Westcliff Management Ltd. has acquired the 880,049-square-foot shopping centre near downtown, ending a 26-year ownership run by Oxford Properties.
Financial terms were not disclosed, with the deal confirmed publicly in late August 2026.
The mall — open since 1976 — draws nearly seven million visitors annually and generates $715 per square foot in retail sales, making it a genuinely strong-performing asset.
Westcliff cited Edmonton's population growth, institutional neighbours, and limited new retail supply as key motivators behind the acquisition.
The biggest challenge inherited: a vacant Hudson's Bay anchor closed in June 2025, with no replacement yet announced.
For now, shoppers should expect business as usual — existing staff and management are staying on during the transition. Read More... |
