In the news this week

The newly launched Alberta Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal (CDRT) now offers Edmonton condo owners and boards a streamlined way to resolve conflicts outside of court.

Established under the Condominium Property Act, this independent tribunal is dedicated to delivering prompt, fair, and affordable solutions for various disputes.

Its focus includes monetary sanctions, access to vital condo documents, and matters related to general meetings.

Most CDRT proceedings take place online, but alternatives are available to ensure all parties can participate.

The process features guided negotiation, confidential mediation, and, if needed, formal adjudication by a tribunal panel,  whose decisions are final and legally binding.

Typical costs start at $150, with waivers possible for those in financial hardship.

This initiative marks a significant step forward, making condo dispute resolution in Edmonton faster, simpler, and more accessible for everyone involved.
