In the news this week

The Edmonton Urban Planning Committee has approved the return of weekday street parking on 101 Street from 107 Avenue to Kingsway, available between 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM.

This move is designed to help local businesses by making parking more accessible and drawing more customers to the area.

Previously, the shift to dedicated transit lanes raised concerns about lost business.

In response, Edmonton is also launching a 'First 15 Minutes Free' initiative in all on-street EPark zones, allowing drivers a quick, cost-free stop once per day.

A two-hour limit will apply to street parking on weekdays, with longer parking allowed in the evening and on weekends.

These changes are part of a broader city strategy to balance strong transit options with a vibrant, business-friendly downtown.

Residents are encouraged to review parking rules and use these new incentives to support local shops.
