In the news this week |
Meta Platforms is investing more than $13 billion Canadian to build its largest data centre campus outside the United States — right in Sturgeon County, just north of Edmonton.
The AI-optimized facility will span 1,750 acres and operate at up to one gigawatt of power — nearly as much as the entire city of Edmonton consumes.
At peak construction, more than 3,000 workers will build the campus, with over 300 permanent positions to follow.
Alberta-based firms PCL Construction and Clark Builders are leading construction, while Pembina Pipeline is involved in on-site power generation.
The project is expected to generate $250 million annually in taxes and fees, with Meta committing an additional $60 million toward local roads and water infrastructure.
A Meta representative is set to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the project's development at an upcoming Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association conference in Edmonton. Read More... |
