A colossal industrial load is causing significant traffic chaos across Edmonton.
The 1.9 million pound caustic wash tower is slowly making its way to the DOW Chemicals site near Fort Saskatchewan.
This multi-day journey is resulting in rolling road closures and major delays for local motorists.
The 'super load' is so large it occupies the entire width of the highway, including the shoulders, moving at a crawl from its starting point in south central Edmonton.
Key routes affected include Whitemud Drive and Highway 14.
Officials are advising drivers to expect disruptions as the massive component, part of DOW's major Path2Zero expansion project, continues its carefully choreographed trip through the region.

River Valley Park Winter Walk: Explore Edmonton's extensive River Valley park system (North America's largest urban parkland) on a brisk winter walk or hike. Numerous trails are open and maintained for walking year-round.
Free Outdoor Ice Skating: Lace up your skates and enjoy one of the many community or city-run outdoor rinks once they open for the season. Victoria Park Iceway is a popular, lighted route for evening skating.
University of Alberta Observatory Lunar Viewing: A free, drop-in event where you can view the moon and other night-sky objects through powerful telescopes on a clear night. On cloudy evenings, they offer tours of the meteorite collection.
Candy Cane Lane Self-Guided Drive: While the official event may start later, you can take a free self-guided drive down Candy Cane Lane to view the incredible light displays put up by the residents.

Holiday Magic at Edmonton City Hall: Enjoy choral and hand bell performances by local elementary and junior high school classes. The main pyramid is filled with music and holiday cheer during the noon hours.
Open Mic Comedy Night (Various Venues): Many local pubs and venues host weekly free-to-attend open mic nights for stand-up comedy, where you can see up-and-coming local talent for the cost of a drink.
