Alberta is committing $38.5 million to build foundational infrastructure — roads, utilities, and municipal servicing — within Beaumont's Innovation Park to support an ambitious new driver training facility just south of Edmonton.
The AMTA Safety Campus is planned for a 160-acre site and will deliver specialized, hands-on training for commercial drivers and law enforcement professionals.
Its state-of-the-art driving track will simulate real-world conditions — from ice-covered highways to tight urban corridors — pushing professional skill levels to meet the demands of Alberta's commercial transportation industry.
The Innovation Park's Area Structure Plan was formally approved in early 2025, clearing a critical planning hurdle and accelerating the campus toward reality.
The investment also directly targets Alberta's ongoing commercial driver shortage, aiming to strengthen the pipeline of qualified drivers that the province's supply chains and resource industries depend on.
Beaumont — the fastest-growing municipality in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region — is on track to reach 30,000 residents by 2030, and city leaders see the campus as an economic anchor that will attract complementary businesses and generate local employment for years to come. Read More... |
