Edmonton families, rejoice! The beloved Green Shack Program is making its much-anticipated return this summer, offering a plethora of engaging activities for children aged 6 to 12.

 

Running from June 29 to August 21, 2026, this free weekday drop-in program is set to bring joy and excitement to various locations across the city.

 

While the program primarily targets children aged 6 to 12, younger kids are more than welcome to join in the fun, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

 

Rain or shine, the Green Shack Program ensures that the fun never stops, with activities designed to keep children active and engaged throughout the summer months.

 

Each week, program leaders will host a variety of games, crafts, sports, and special events tailored to spark creativity and foster new friendships among participants.

 

Weekly activity schedules will be prominently posted at each Green Shack location, allowing families to plan their visits accordingly.

 

Here are some of the Green Shack locations and their operating hours for Summer 2026:

Baturyn Community League

In addition to the Green Shack Program, Edmonton offers a variety of other summer activities for children:

 

Muttart Conservatory

The Muttart Conservatory provides special drop-in programming that changes throughout the year.

 

Facility admission or membership is required to participate in any of the drop-in programs.

 

Programs include Nature's Mini Movers, Seniors' Day, Happy Hour at Muttart, Thursday Garden Experiments, Imagination Station, and Mornings at Muttart.

 

Outdoor Adventure Programs

The City offers a variety of outdoor adventure programs for youth, families, and groups.

 

These programs provide fun and memorable outdoor activities right here in Edmonton.

 

All equipment is provided.

 

Registered Day Camps

Explore the river valley, try a new sport, or discover your creative side.

 

Make new friends, learn new skills, and have a blast at a City of Edmonton day camp!

 

Camps are available for ages 4 to 17.

 

Registration for summer day camps opened on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Remember, while the Green Shack Program is free and does not require registration, it's important to note that this is not a childcare service.

 

Children are free to come and go throughout the program, and staff do not supervise children before or after attendance.

 

Parents are responsible for their children at all times and must be available in the event of an emergency.
