Affordable housing continues to be top of the list for Edmontonians in 2026. Lets follow the conversation.

In the news this week |
Edmonton is intensifying efforts to increase attainable housing, especially downtown.
Council is considering a Downtown Attainable Housing Incentive, offering a 10-year tax rebate to developers who allocate at least 25% of units to households earning 30% of median renter income.
Alongside this, the City’s Downtown Student Housing Incentive commits $15 million to boost student housing near MacEwan University and NorQuest College, targeting 500 new units by November 2026.
Established organizations, including Civida and HomeEd, continue to deliver affordable homes and support services citywide.
Meanwhile, provincial rent assistance and the federal Housing Accelerator Fund, which provided $192 million for 5,700+ additional homes, bolster affordability citywide.
Recent zoning bylaw changes in 2024 have expanded options for multi-unit and higher-density developments, paving the way for a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable Edmonton. Read More... |
