Two sisters from Edmonton have become the new owners of Jasperās iconic Athabasca Hotel, affectionately called the Atha-B, marking a fresh chapter for the landmark thatās been at the communityās core since 1929.
Located at 510 Patricia Street, the hotel is known for blending historic charm with modern comforts, offering guests easy access to Jasperās attractions, shops, and recreation facilities.
The Atha-B has a rich past, originally a grocery and rooming house in the early 1900s, before transforming into a grand, three-story brick hotel in 1928.
The new owners, experienced hoteliers, aim to preserve its heritage while upgrading rooms, dining, and event spaces for travelers and locals.
After recent wildfires and ongoing recovery efforts, including new housing and enhanced park spaces, the Atha-B stands as a welcoming symbol of Jasperās resilience and renewal. Read More... |

It ran on select holidays from 1980 to 2009 and, at its full drop, stood taller than Niagara Falls. It was eventually retired over the cost and the volume of water it used. |
